Knowing Norwegian serves us well – let is serve you well too.
Norwegian has about 5 million speakers living mostly in Norway and the Nordic countries.
It is a North Germanic language and is derived from Western Old Norse. Norwegian, Danish and Swedish are mutually intelligible owing to their common history. Icelandic, on the other hand, is not mutually intelligible with Norwegian, despite the 2 languages being related.
Did you know that…
Norwegians are able to understand around 88% of spoken Swedish and 73% of spoken Danish. Due to the closeness between Norwegian, Swedish and Danish, there is a lot of fluidity between the languages.
