Learning about loyalty in Barcelona

Attached BV Page 3

Earlier in June, Attached | Language intelligence was pleased to be present at the 8th Annual Enhancing Customer Loyalty and Retention Summit in Barcelona.

Two of our colleagues, Marieke Voorvelt, Customer Loyalty Localization Strategist, and Matthijs Kooijman, Sales Director, delivered an enlightening presentation called “How to Find and Keep Customers by Speaking Their Language” to customer loyalty and marketing professionals in attendance. These industry insiders know very well the importance of proper localisation, but were nonetheless surprised, sometimes even shocked, by Marieke and Matthijs’ examples of ‘localisation gone wrong’ found in all corners of the world.

Marieke and Matthijs were not only presenting, but also attending, and eager to hear the latest developments from other presenters. Insights that were especially informative were given by Laura Malinsky from Allianz, Sophie Privat from Air France KLM, Yasser al Yousuf from Etihad Guest and Tad Fordyce from Epsilon. This was the perfect opportunity to learn and understand the reality of our customers and prospects.

We asked Matthijs what his most valuable take-away from the summit was. His answer? A phrase from one of the presentations that completely summed up the opinions of the participants:

“Localisation is not just one of the essential parts of personalising your marketing effort. Its importance goes much further than that: you’ll never get to personalisation if you don’t localise your content.”

A statement that we wholeheartedly agree with!

See you at a next summit?

Marieke Voorvelt gave a guest lecture about ways to ensure the quality in translations.

As part of the course Translation Criticism, a required course for the Master Translation Studies at Utrecht University, Marieke was asked to speak from experience. And she did. She talked about the ISO 17100 requirements for translation services. Moreover, she showed ways in which current technological advances can contribute to ascertain quality. Students were very interested to hear about her personal experiences working at a translation agency and the most recent developments in the field.

Several years in a row now, the Master Translation Studies at Utrecht University has been voted the Best Translation Programme by independent sources. It offers Master programmes in Literary Translation as well as Industry Specific Translation.

We are pleased to have Marieke being able to contribute to this programme.

Attached speaks at Elia ND Focus

Our colleagues Thijs Senten and Leen Temmerman travelled to Prague to speak at the annual Elia ND Focus congress.

Thijs and Leen inspired listeners with their presentation on Operational Excellence. Touching on topics such as continuous improvement, spotting opportunities and focussing on what matters, their talk was very well received. The attendees learned more about the optimisation of integration and technology. Emphasis was also laid on the fact that sharing knowledge and information is vital – something to which the attendees could certainly relate.

During the two-day event on 7 and 8 December 2017, Thijs and Leen learned much from other speakers as well. A big thank you to everyone for contributing and making this a fantastic and valuable event. Thank you #eliandfocus

The Hague University has renewed our contract as their supplier of translation, editing and CMS services.

By offering these services to many different departments of the university, we are pleased to help them take further steps in their process of internationalization.

As part of our service package, we not only translate all news items published by the university, but also upload them into the university’s content management system. By taking over this publication responsibility, we are able to significantly reduce the time needed to push articles to go live.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with The Hague University of Applied Sciences!

Introducing Matthijs, our new Sales Director

Attached BV Page 3

We were looking for an industry veteran to lead our Sales and Key Accounts and we found him in Matthijs Kooijman.

Matthijs will be responsible for ensuring the company’s commercial growth and managing its relationships with key clients.

‘Another important aspect of my work is being a coach and mentor to the team and assist and support them in our daily operations,’ says Matthijs.

Before Attached, Matthijs worked as a Senior Account Manager and Language Consultant at Concorde Group (now Livewords) for over eight years. He also worked at Powerling as Language Consultant in Utrecht and Hong Kong.

He believes the language industry is changing. ‘But what I also see is that a high percentage of the customers that need translation and localization services, including global corporations, still really value human contact, customized quality and personal commitment.’

Personal contact, commitment and customization are part of the way we work at Attached. We therefore trust that Matthijs can put those company values across to our clients and make Attached grow sustainably while staying true to what we believe most important.

Digital Marketing has no more secrets

Attached BV Page 3

In our current digital economy, it is of the essence for companies to be aware of the power of digital marketing.
To be able to continuously support our clients in this area, permanent education in the possibilities – and limitations – of digital marketing strategies is therefore indispensable.

To this end, our CEO Eveline van Sandick, attended the Strategic Digital Marketing programme organized by The Maastricht Leadership Academy. During the programme, strategy coherence, methodological analysis and the various digital marketing channels were discussed in great detail.

Thanks to this well-organized programme, we are now more ready than ever to advise our clients on how different digital marketing opportunities can be used to optimize their customers’ journey.
