DTP Translation Services

Elevate your multilingual designs.

The need for desktop publishing translation services

A perfectly designed brochure can fall apart the moment it’s translated, with text overflowing boxes, layouts shifting, and formatting breaking across every language version. DTP translation exists to prevent that, so your design looks as sharp in Japanese or German as it does in the original.

You’ve just designed the perfect brochure. A sleek design that perfectly reflects your brand and message. The only challenge now is that your different texts still need to be translated into many other languages .

This often involves a lot of extra work for you, such as copying and pasting content back into your design files, which means valuable time is lost. Attached understands this issue, which is why we offer Desktop Publishing translation as the perfect solution. All you have to do is create the design with the original text and then we do the rest.

How Attached helps you

We don’t just translate the words in your document. We work directly inside your design files, so the translated version is ready to publish without a separate formatting step.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • Native file translation means we work directly in your InDesign or Illustrator files, rather than extracting text into a spreadsheet and expecting you to paste it back in.
  • In-context quality checks mean that as translation happens, we see exactly how the text sits in the layout, so overset text, awkward line breaks, or misaligned elements are caught immediately, not after delivery.
  • Code and formatting integrity means all underlying code, styles, and formatting remain completely intact throughout the process.
  • Multi-language consistency means that for projects spanning several languages, we keep design and terminology aligned across every version.

And a single point of contact, your Attached project manager, keeps you informed on timelines and file status throughout.

The smart way to get your message across

Desktop Publishing translation goes beyond simply converting words from one language to another. At Attached , we have the expertise to translate directly into your InDesign or Illustrator file – with the assurance that the formatting remains completely intact.

This method of working means that you save time because the translation doesn’t need to be pasted in later, and during the translation process, we immediately see how the translation looks in the layout. We don’t find out afterwards that the translations don’t fit or aren’t placed correctly. Say goodbye to extra work and hassle!

Questions & Answers

Which design file formats can you work with?

We work directly in native design files, most commonly Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. If your materials are in a different format, let us know and we’ll confirm whether we can work with it directly or advise on the best approach.

Will the formatting and layout stay intact after translation?

Yes. Because we translate directly inside your design file rather than extracting text separately, we can see exactly how the translation fits the layout as we go. This means overset text, awkward line breaks, or misaligned elements are caught and adjusted during translation, not discovered after delivery.

Do I need to send you editable design files, or can you work from a PDF?

For the best result, we need the original editable design file, since this is what allows us to translate directly within the layout. If you only have a PDF, let us know and we can advise on the best way forward, though some manual reformatting may be required.

Can you handle DTP translation across multiple languages at once?

Yes. We regularly manage projects that require the same design translated into many languages simultaneously. We keep formatting, terminology, and layout consistent across every version, so all your translated materials look and read as one coherent set.

What happens if text expansion breaks the layout in the target language?

Some languages take up significantly more space than the original, which can cause text to overflow its box or push other elements out of place. Because we work inside the actual design file, we catch this during translation and adjust wording, sizing, or layout as needed, so the final file is ready to publish without further fixes.
